In 1887,
at the United States Patent Office,
Tesla filed patents related to
a complete system of generators
and transformers of electric power.
The industrialist George Westinghouse
presented these patents
as commercial devices
and a system of polyphase currents,
which Tesla demonstrated
at the Chicago Exposition
in 1893.
