Alongside Nikola Tesla,
one of the most significant
Serbian scientists
was Milutin Milanković.
He made two fundamental
contributions to world science.
The first:
( the Canon of Insolation—
describing how sunlight is
distributed across the planets
of the Solar System )
which underpins our explanation
of Earth’s long-term
climate changes,
arising from astronomical
variations—
the Earth’s changing position
and orientation
relative to the Sun.
Scientists today, at home
and worldwide,
call these the Milankovitch cycles.
